I don't care if you don't want me 'Cause I'm yours anyhow ------------------------------- source: GypsyEyes alt.music.lyrics ------------------------------- The original version was recorded by its author, Screamin' Jay Hawkins in 1956 on the Okeh label. The original release was withdrawn after a national radio ban on the record, based on fifties' paranoia/belief that the wildness of the recording simulated voodoo and cannibalism. Alan Freed however included and promoted Hawkins in his rock n' roll revues, having him rise out of a coffin prior to performing the song. Despite the record's notoriety, it did not chart. Also covered by Manfred Mann in 1965; three years before CCR recorded it.
